A very satisfying circular walk in a most beautiful spot in Hampshire. Starting from the Hawkley Inn, another gem of the area, the walk takes you up and along quiet tracks, fields and hangers - the local name for wooded slopes - with very little road-work. It is quite hilly but you are more than rewarded for your efforts with superb views for many miles around. There are some wet and also some muddy sections, most of which can be bypassed by little detours, but waterproof footwear is essential. This walk measured just 4.8km but you will feel as if you've had a good step out and will more than deserve some of the lovely food and beers on offer with a warm welcome at the Hawkley Inn.

My dog, a slim, fit Labrador who cannot jump, managed to get through all of the stiles and gates with ease and really enjoyed himself - especially getting thoroughly muddy and then splashing through the streams, where he had a good wash-off!

Excellent clear instructions which meant that we were able to follow this walk without putting a foot wrong despite being in low cloud with poor visibilty on the top of Wheatham Hill. The walk is muddy but with a little care and waterproof footwear is very enjoyable.
