This walk starts opposite a pub in Hawkshaw at the edge of the village. The first section follows the road through the village before climbing up a lane to reach a footpath up and across open moorland. After a section following a track across the bottom of a plateau the walk drops down via footpaths and lanes to reach the edge of Edgworth. There is a short section along a main road, passing a water wheel (see general picture), before dropping down through some woodland.

After going through the woodland, the second climb starts by passing through a farmyard to reach the main road again. There is then a very short section of the road along a grass verge. The road is crossed before following a farm track to reach open fields. These are crossed using the two gaps mentioned in the short description, passing a small pond between them, to reach the second high point of the walk. The footpaths between the farm track and the second wall are not easily visible on the ground but are clear on the map. The final section is back to the start point crossing fields and along a footpath.
