Hay-on-Wye is renowned for a number of reasons. It is known as the Book Capital of Britain - some say the world. It is the place where the Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke Path part company. Hay is also the centre of some of the best walking in Wales. These five walks should introduce you to some of the delights of this area. This short walk takes you round Hay-on-Wye, passing the interesting Church of St Mary's as well as wandering through The Warren. The return route directs you through the main streets and the hundreds of bookshops.

Walk 4447: the walk starts by following the Wye Valley Walk and crossing Pontwaen Golf Club. After reaching Priory Farm the route swings round to head south, past a motte and bailey on its way back to Hay.

Walk 4448: the walk leaves Hay to travel west on the Wye Valley Walk as far as Llowes. From here the route heads north-east as far as Clyro before heading past the castle and back to Hay.

Walk 4450: leaving Cusop Church the walk heads for the high ground of Cusop Hill. After enjoying the views we make our way back along the valley, enjoying the stream and the birds.

Walk 4451: the start of this walk is a good climb on the Offa's Dyke Trail. The reward is the lovely view, followed by a gradual descent back down to Hay and the pubs and tea rooms.
