This short, circular walk has a reasonable height gain, but it is very gradual and the summit of Lantern Pike is easily attained. Much of the walk follows a bridleway which means fewer stiles than usual. There are outstanding views, of the Kinder Scout plateau in particular. There is good parking and other facilities in Hayfield, featured in the 2013 TV series, 'The Village'.

Beautiful walk, completed today. Very quiet despite being school holidays.

Excellent walk, with clear directions. Walked this as a family (the kids were 10 and 12 at the time) in May 2017, and the views from Lantern Pike were fabulous, even with a fair amount of cloud cover.
