Beginning at the tidal riverside car park, we walk past the pretty gardens and wooded footpaths with much for children to explore. Passing the old sluice gates displayed in the garden, we are soon climbing a short hill to bring us to Churchtown Road and The Bucket of Blood pub (see additional information). Next we head towards the coast, passing through grassland and dunes and are soon admiring the vast sandy spread of Hayle Beach with the Godrevy Point lighthouse away to our right. Now we wander along the coastal path towards the entrance channel to Hayle Harbour with St Ives in clear sight on the opposite side of the bay. Our way takes us through a chalet holiday park and brings us to a large open unsurfaced car park. From here we are soon at the old quayside with its massive ongoing apartment development and have only to walk along the quayside pathway to return to the Riviere Café and open-air swimming-pool with the car park from where we started.
