This circular walk starts at Haytor car park and after a visit to the scenic quarry with its lake, heads out over the moor to a secret pool that most walkers are unaware of, as it is invisible from a distance of a few tens of metres. From the pool we walk through a gorse and heather part of the moor to Smallacombe Rocks, passing the stone circle sites of ancient roundhouses. After looking around the rocks with their spectacular outlook we head back towards Haytor and turn onto a granite railway, to visit a wilder quarry before heading down to Becka Brook (lovely place for a picnic). From the stream we return to Haytor by a different route, climbing up over the tor itself, before returning to our starting point.

Walked part of this walk in Spring after heavy rain. No real issues except track from point 10 to 11 now very overgrown with gorse. Thick trousers and walking boots required, or just walk back from 10 until you can see a clear path to Smallacombe rocks.

Walked 30.08.2013- A stunning walk with good directions generally. After leaving the quarry make sure you don't descend too far. We ended up taking the wrong track but soon were able to find our correct way. I would recommend a GPS for this walk, it's easy to get lost on the moor! Some great scenary to be had. The hidden pool was a dry mud pit (we've had a dry summer). We also couldn't find the scramble down so this could be re-done but other than this, a truly memorable walk with fantastic views!, I will rate this 9/10. Well done!
