This walk takes in a lot of track-walking on green lanes and quiet narrow roads. It is mostly fairly easy walking, with the exception of the climb up Gypsy Bank from the River Dove approaching Alstonefield.

Most of the route is well marked, and most stiles are present and easy to find.

The pub used on this walk is the 'George Inn' in Alstonefield. It is a popular walkers' pub and is always busy, even mid week (apologies to those photographed who should not have been there. I noticed when reformatting photo that everyone had covered their faces). There are bench tables outside - in front and in the car parking area. They have a good value menu, with ample portions, and quality is usually good. A choice of hand pulled beers is on offer. The pub also has a small camping site to the rear beyond the car park area, though family groups are preferred.

After the previous comment by Ian was made, Paul, the walk contributor has re-walked this route, and can confirm his directions are correct. He has checked between Waymark 16 and 19, and said the area is under 200mtrs and all subsequent stiles are visible from the previous. He cannot find any way that anyone would need to turn left at Waymark 17. The instruction is veer right across track to corner of opposite wall and follow wall to left from corner or something close to that. Paul concedes one area that is confusing is Waymark 18-19. Most walkers cut across the field from the barn ruins (including him), but that is not the right of way. The details given are as shown on OS map for public access. He would not give details to trespass to be published. Paul will consider a rewrite to remove any confusion. 12/12/13

Walk enjoyable but Waypoints 16-19 need work to correct what would have been un-navigable without GPS or OS map at least as directions are unbelievably hard to follow here, WP.16 stile 50mtrs below car park not opposite, WP.17 Track turns left not right, WP.18&19 Difficult, & distance covered; 9.54mls not 8 as informed
