The Herisson River is only small and quite short, running from the Lac de Bonlieu to the River Ain, but it manages to cut an impressive gorge and to drop 300m over a series of waterfalls in little over a kilometre. This walk takes you along a section of the GR 559 long-distance footpath down the old pony track from Menetrux to the valley floor and then up the gorge round (and in one case through) the series of waterfalls.

It then returns along a (generally) well-marked PR footpath along the upper edge of the gorge, including the Belvedere de l'Evantail lookout, to look down on the falls and see where you've been.
