Higher Poynton - Lyme Park - Bowstones - Dale Top - Macclesfield Canal - Higher Poynton

The walk starts at the car park at the Nelson's Pit Visitor Centre in Higher Poynton and climbs steadily up to Lyme Park, then along the Gritstone Trail to Bowstones. From there the route continues to follow the Gritstone Trail for a short distance, then turns down Dale Top over moorland to pass by the Keeper's Cottage and then alongside the boundary of Lyme Park by Cluse Hay. The route next passes through farmland to the Macclesfield Canal at Footbridge 17. From there the walk follows the canal towpath back to the car park.

I loved this walk, despite not seeing the views due to cloud. Very easy to navigate.I parked in the Lyme Park car park for the weekly Saturday morning Parkrun and then did this walk. It meant the dog and I passed the Boar’s Head Pub at the end of the walk so we could stop for lunch. Parking in Lyme Park is free if you enter before 8am (or it might be 8:30 - best to check).
