"Very flat, Norfolk". Sir Noel Coward's disparaging remark would certainly apply to the almost non-existent contours of this walk, but it is certainly not devoid of interest. Pleasant paths and tracks characterise this attractive route in unspoilt countryside, with fine open views, wide skies and the lovely woods of Grimston Carr to savour, as well as a fine hostelry at the finish.

Moreover, Congham is the venue for the annual World Snail Racing Championships each July! 17th. See www.snailracing.net

Information for Dog Owners: subject to the normal precautions to be observed by dog-owners when walking in sheep country, this walk is considered suitable for biddable dogs.

A very enjoyable walk indeed, the section through Grimston Carr (WP12) is fabulous. The church at Hillington is not open daily which is a shame. And I would thoroughly recommend taking a peak at the old railway station towards the end of the walk, it is an absolute cracker, you can also see some of the old platform infrastructure that remains in place. There is a problem with access at WP3 as the land is now in private ownership with entry forbidden. We had to follow the track opposite Congham Lodge that takes you through a small forest and along a track that takes you to a road in South Congham. When reaching the road take a right and soon on your left you will come across the post box and information board mentioned at WP8.
