This walk starts at a car park between the villages of Holcombe Brook and Holcombe, Ramsbottom. The first section goes through some woods before climbing to reach Holcombe Moor, passing through the village of Holcombe. It crosses the moor before dropping down to reach the edge of the firing range. The second section crosses the firing range using footpaths and a footbridge before continuing through the grounds of a house. From the house there are more fields to cross before going through a farm and across more fields. The third section is along rural lanes, passing the bottom of the firing range to reach a local nature reserve. The fourth section is through the nature reserve, using several up and down stretches. Finally you walk up a bridleway for about one kilometre, rising seventy metres before a short drop to the start point. There are five or six stiles along this walk, so dogs might have to be lifted over them. Note: between Waymarks 06 and 10 there are a number of man-made paths that do not show on the map. Also, between Waymarks 13 and 17 there are a number of paths and tracks within the firing range which are not public footpaths, although people do use them. This walk follows paths on the map. You will see 'Out of bounds' signs at various points. These refer to the edges of the firing range, not to the public footpaths. The paths through Redisher Wood (Waymarks 27 to 29) are not shown on the map but are visible on the ground.
