The suggested way to complete this linear walk is to use public transport via the Coastliner bus service. After visiting the Bride Stones and walking down Staindale, the walk enters Dalby Forest proper and passes the Visitor Centre. There is a café here and another at the Purple Mountain Bike Centre, 300m further south. If you have a packed lunch, there are numerous picnic tables and seats in the vicinity.
St Hilda's Church at Ellerburn is usually open and dates back to around 1050AD.
Thornton-le-Dale welcomes visitors, with post office, shops, pubs, a restaurant, toilets and cafés. There is also a fish and chip shop and café, should you be really hungry at the end of your walk.
