The Trans-Pennine Trail starts (or finishes) on the seafront at Hornsea and winds its way for 346km to Southport. The first section of this walk follows the trail along the line of an old railway track, before heading to the southern shore of Hornsea Mere. Rounding the western end, the walk returns alongside the B1244 on a continuous tarmac footpath. The town centre of Hornsea is suddenly reached and offers all manner of tea opportunities before finishing at the obelisk of the Trans-Pennine.
