Ilkley Moor is part of a large area of moorland, collectively known as Rombolds Moor. This walk explores the area above and to the west of Ilkley Town and climbs up to the boundary wall near East Buckstones before returning. It is mostly on good paths or tracks, but there are one or two smaller paths and some boggy areas on the top of the moor. Boots are recommended. There are extensive views across into Wharfedale and also at Whetstone Gate, with views into Airedale.

In "Footpaths of Britain, North Eastern England" the photograph on page 52 relating to this walk is of the 'Cow & Calf Rocks'. Although nearby they are not on the walk route.
