The Ochils present a very steep rampart to walkers approaching from the south. The A823 however, offers a route into the very heart of these often overlooked hills. Utilising the free parking beside Castlehill Reservoir and the tracks up Glenquey, this fantastic walk penetrates into the hills and from Innerdownie summit the views over South Perthsire are superb. On descent you can catch your breath at the excellent Tormaukin Hotel in Glendevon.

Appropriate clothing and equipment should be carried, for although the Ochils are small in comparison to the Highland mountains they remain challenging in winter conditions and in poor visibility. The ability to operate with map and compass is essential.
