The charming villages of Bolton-by-Bowland and Holden are the starting point for this part of the journey, which takes us into lesser-walked parts of the Ribble and Hodder Valleys. The way leads through numbers of farms and many fields and is quite complex. The compensation is in the views and the quietness. We did this section in several parts to check it all out and never met another walker, in fact we hardly met anybody at all.
