Kelling Heath Holiday Park covers 250 acres of heathland, woodland and open areas. The site has won all the top awards for conservation. Part of the high area was formed during the last Ice Age and Saxon iron ore pits and arrowheads have been found here. There are historical walks and evening and dawn bird walks organised from here. For more details ring Kevin Hart on 01263- 588181.

The route is through the heathland and woods and goes beside All Saints Church, High Kelling (Waymark 7) which was for the use of the staff and patients of the then sanatorium, built in the early 1900s. In 1955 the residents of High Kelling bought the church for their use for £500. To the north side of the park is the North Norfolk steam line, which runs from Holt to Sheringham and has been used in many TV serials. Opposite the car park there are two 'cages'; one houses a pair of owls and the other, red squirrels.

A great way to start the walking week, a good mix of heathland, woodland, countryside and some good views of the North Sea. The car park within the holiday park was closed to the public as part of lockdown procedures, we parked in Sandy Lane in a handy layby just past the entrance to the Holiday Park. The instructions were in the main fine bar one or two elements that may have changed since Joy created the walk. When you find the seat (it is hidden behind some trees facing the sea) at the end of point 1 you are advised to turn left along a track. My feeling is the track now in place is not the one Joy would have seen. The current and new looking cycle route takes you along a fence that runs parallel with the railway, as you reach the end of the fence you are forced to continue around to the left. You then reach a T-junction where you need to turn right towards Warren Farm and back on track. When you enter the woodland behind the Church at 8, you simply keep following the path until you reach the country lane. We did not see any gate with 'Private' on it.
