This is a delightful short and circular all year round walk with an excellent variety of features, and some superb views over Boothsdale from the path alongside a wooded hill known locally as Little Switzerland; a delightful spot as you can see from the photo. It is a bit of a hill walk but all the paths are well used and there are no stiles. One of the hardest parts is finding your way through the series of footpaths through Kelsall village. The stretch along the lane begins the return route, which continues along the long distance footpath Eddisbury Way. This begins to get more interesting after you pass Beech's Farm and reach a striking row of very old beech trees at the start of a series of kissing gates across the tops of small meadows. Having crossed Salter's Brook and climbed a small hill the long walk across a field of crops at Hallowsgate brings you back into Kelsall and a long tarmac path along the edge of housing estate greens back to your car park.

The walk is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between; it is excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and stout, but boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route is the occasional bench seats, and close to the start is a large grocery store. There are toilets in the pub by the starting car park where refreshments will be available, and if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
