Starting from a nature reserve high in the Cotswold Hills, the walk goes down through grassy meadows with magnificent views to reach the tiny hamlet of Foxcote. After passing through parkland containing a gallop track and cross-country horse jumps, the route heads uphill along the edge of mixed woodland to reach a high point near the top of Shill Hill. From here the return route is an almost straight-line path along the top of the ridge, with more wonderful views virtually all the way back.

This walk is good at any time of year, with birdsong in the woodland in late winter and spring, wildflowers and butterflies in summer and lovely autumn colour.

An excellent walk, we and the dogs enjoyed a peaceful Friday morning (apart from shooting in the distance). Some sheep, but very little time on lead, If I do again, I will miss point 1 to 2, as Belted Galloway cattle graze the paddock, but walking back out of the car park and turning left, will put you back on the route after approx 5 minutes. We had to climb one stile only - out & back. Thank you, we enjoyed it.
