Two large villages with two hamlets in between, feature on this cracking little walk in the Cotswolds. Beginning in Kingham, which boasts its own railway station and which also has a fine church, the route takes a good bridleway track to leave the village, when the rolling countryside is immediately evident.

Daylesford, a tiny, picturesque community, has a very interesting little church that is well worth a few steps extra to allow a visit. Setting off again to walk along the road overlooking the Daylesford Estate, the views are marvellous. A bridleway track leads along to the estate buildings, passing open fields and woodland before the high stone wall that runs beside the track on the approach to the paddocks on either side and then the estate office.

Open fields and woodland paths follow and several farms are passed, picking up the Darcy Dalton Way at times. Great sweeps of glorious landscape stretch as far as the eye can see on the way to Churchill Mill and the pretty little setting of Sarsden Halt.

Churchill is famed for being the birthplace of Warren Hastings, first Governor-General of India, and William Smith, Father of Geology. It also has a very impressive church with a tall tower that is a landmark for miles around. It is but a short distance back to Kingham, but the scenes on the way are equally stunning and pleasing to the eye; a real Cotswold adventure!

A super walk - very easy terrain (late August 2017) over well walked paths, with lots of points of interest and great views along the way. Dog friendly, with only a few fields having livestock. The bank from waypoint 9 down to the road below is a great spot for a picnic lunch. Note for waypoint 8 - there are no steps now, and the steep path on the left is easy to miss, also once on the woodland path we copied previous walkers and quickly exited right into the field to continue to waypoint 9, as it was quite overgrown. The other correction is that the "Tollgate" is now called "The Wild Rabbit". Other than that, the directions were good and easy to follow. One pub in Churchill and two in Kingham.
