The route crosses narrow valleys and passes through stretches of woodland, providing a frequently changing perspective on this peaceful, intimate landscape. Starting from the tiny village of Kingscote, the walk follows good farm tracks and grassy paths, crossing a valley and climbing up the other side to reach a ridge path. There are lovely views over Horsley. Following a gentle descent to reach woodland, a winding track leads to the village where there is opportunity for refreshments.

The route back to Kingscote descends into a wooded valley and climbs up the other side to reach a small hamlet. An undulating path leads through a series of grassy meadows overlooking lakes to reach a quiet, narrow country lane and a gentle walk back to the village.
