Starting from an enchanting old pub in the middle of Kingsley, this is an excellent circular riverbank walk along one of the more remote lengths of the river. The riverside path has two names, the Weaver Way - and also known as the North Cheshire Way. Much of the well-used footpath takes you along long narrow belts of delightful riverside woods, and as the return route is along footpaths which are not often used you can also help to Save Our Footpaths and get off the beaten track. You are unlikely to meet any farm animals, but one footpath is over a cultivated field which may be sticky in winter or after heavy rain. On the major paths the stiles, bridges, and kissing gates are in good order, but on lesser paths you will need to climb over some fences. Avoid using this walk when the river is in flood as some sections may be under deep water. You can also enjoy walk 1043 from the same starting locations as this walk. The walk includes instructions for moored river boat walkers.

The walk is probably suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between; it is excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best, especially in winter or after heavy rain, and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there is a café at Kingsley Mill with picnic tables by the landscaped pond. There is also the pub at the start and finish of the walk where, if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
