This is a canal and countryside walk in the lovely leafy Warwickshire area of Lapworth. Beginning near the Kingswood Junction on the North Stratford Canal, walk up the Lapworth flight of locks. There is usually boating activity to interest the passer-by, as well as the heritage navigation system of such brilliant architecture and engineering. It is completely rural and tranquil, the obvious attraction for so many seeking escape from the mundane. Leaving the towpath to take footpaths cross country, it is but a short distance before the National Trust parkland of Packwood House is entered on the west side of the house, where there is a large lake. Leaving it to walk further afield, the house is approached again from the south side, where the unusual yew gardens are first encountered. The long Packwood Avenue is tree-lined and is the next pleasant experience on the way to the road that leads back to the canal at Kingswood.
