A suggested improvement to add more open hillside to this walk: go straight on along the level forest track at point 10, rather than going left downhill, brings you out onto Offas Dyke and open ground. A further 300m along is a splendid view up the Teme valley with looping meanders and an impressive railway viaduct. You can then drop back across the hillside on a diagonal path to re-join the original route at point 13.
