This is a shortened, circular variation of the linear walk Strathpeffer to Dingwall via the Knock Farrel Ridge (Walk 704).

From the car park you climb through woodland to the spine of the ridge, which is treeless. Walking along it you have uninterrupted views all the way to the Iron Age fort at the end of it.
The return is by a different route, which takes you to the Touchstone Maze, where samples of the main rock types that make up the Highlands are displayed. Parts of the return route can be muddy...boots are advised. This is an enjoyable family walk (with dog); refreshments etc may be found in Strathpeffer.

Lovely walk with glorious views all round and straight forward to follow. The car park is now signposted Blackmuir Wood with plenty of parking. At point 4 its now well signposted to Dingwall and Kinkilloch and point 7 is now a tarmac car park.

Brilliant walk, great views from the top of the ridge and shade in the forest on the way up. Completely dog friendly with accessible stiles.
