This is a walk up into the mountains above La Bourboule, with great views stretching to the Puy de Sancy and the Puy de Dome. The countryside starts in woodland, but is largely across wide-open land where you will see the occasional herd of cows and plenty of views.
Around the lake you walk through woodlands at its edge, close enough to see fish at times. As you climb away from the lake you then come across a waterfall with a viewing platform before re-entering the open countryside.
