In this walk, we visit the highest point in the Sierra Norte, the Mirador Sierra del Viento at the summit of La Capitana. The mirador is at a height of 960 metres but, because we start at 740 metres, the walk is not very strenuous and the gradients are quite gentle. The track is, for the most part, broad and easy to follow. It runs along parallel with and close to the summit ridge, so there are extensive views along most of the route. This is a good area for seeing birds of prey including, occasionally, golden eagles. At the top, there is an excellent all-round panorama taking in the Sierra Norte to the south and the plains of Extremadura to the north. Information boards at the mirador identify the main features of the landscape.
