The walk starts from the car park at the junction of D80 and D95, just south of Nans-les-Pins. The walk climbs through the forest to the Sainte Baume ridge that you follow to the spectacularly situated Chapelle du Saint Pilon on the very edge of the ridge overlooking the Sainte Baume valley on one side and the Mediterranean coast on the other. You then return off the ridge and this time climb to the Grotte and Sanctuaire of Sainte Marie-Madeleine, hanging on the side of the cliff directly under Saint Pilon. The cave behind the monastery houses the Sanctuaire and chapel. You return down through the forest, visiting the Nazareth Hotellerie if you wish and back to the start of the walk.
