From the Port of La Savina, we begin by walking around some of the edge of Estany de Peix (Fishermans' lake) with a chance to visit the sombre ruins of the Fascist Civil War Prison (see additional information). Leaving the lake, we make our way through timeless countryside to pass the beautifully restored windmills above the capital, San Francesc. Now we descend into the town and pass through the centre of it, giving us the chance for a welcome break. Next we make our way north, eventually to find ourselves on the track following the southern bank of Estany Pudent. Now we have a choice: we can shorten the walk by 3.6km by going left along the track and following it along the foreshore NW, straight back to La Savina; or follow the walk description that takes us around the lake with it on our left. We will follow the lake edge, sometimes walking on narrow strips that separate the waters and later have the chance to divert to visit the emblematic Megalithic Burial Ground. To finish we cross over to the northern sea shore and follow a well-trodden and beautiful track back to La Savina.
