This lovely gentle stroll starts off at the National Trust Car Park by Lanthwaite Wood and follows country lanes round to Muncaster House before joining a public footpath towards the shores of Crummock Water. On arrival at the lakeshore you are rewarded with some amazing views down the lake to Rannerdale Knotts and also across to higher fells like Mellbreak and the mighty west face of Grasmoor.

The route continues along the lakeshore to the north until you cross a footbridge and enter Lanthwaite Wood, where it starts to ascend to a higher path which at some points, offers views through the trees to Mellbreak and also down to Crummock Water. This forest track then takes you straight back to the car park.
