A beautiful circular walk starting at the church in Layer-de-la-Haye. The route follows field-paths, country lanes and some lovely stretches through woodland. At certain points on the route there are excellent views over Abberton Reservoir with Mersea Island and the Blackwater Estuary in the distance. This is an area favoured by birdwatchers and you should see a wide variety of birds.
Friday Wood is an area used by the MoD and when signs indicate it is in use, some care may be required.
Certain sections through the woodland can get quite muddy in the winter months, so boots may be advisable. This is a great family walk and ideal for dogs too.
