From the church at Layer-de-la-Haye you follow a long roadside path with great views over Abberton Reservoir. Then the walk takes you through fields to arrive at Layer Marney. From here it's quiet country lanes and more fields to arrive at Birch. Then after walking through more fields and along quiet country lanes you pass through Cook's Wood, more woodland and fields, then through Chest Wood. You exit the woods to follow a few more paths and lanes to arrive back at Layer-de-la-Haye Church.

Really enjoyed this walk,especially the sections through the woodland.I'm glad there was a decent parking area at the start,unlike some of the other walks I have done on here. Spot on instructions made it very enjoyable walk,thank-you Dan and Jo for publishing it
