This is an almost level walk around the picturesque Rudyard Lake reservoir in North Staffordshire, on tracks and bridleways. There are fine panoramic views of this elongated lake throughout the walk, culminating with a visit to the visitor centre.

Starting from the car park adjacent to the Rudyard Lake Steam Railway terminus, the first part of the walk follows the track of the old North Staffordshire Railway to the head of the lake. From here you join the Staffordshire Way, continuing across a meadow to enter Cliff Park Wood with its dappled sunshine and proceed down the western side of the lake, passing Rudyard Lake Sailing Club and discreet waterside houses, to the dam.

Here fine views along the length of the lake can be seen and refreshments can be taken. It is then a short walk back to the car park, following the route of the canal feeder streams.

Nice walk around the lake, muddy in a lot of places due to the rain a few days before.Station carpark can get very busy so parking on the road can be easier

Good 5 1/2 Mile walk which the wife and I completed in 1hr 50mins. We added an extra half a mile by starting the walk exiting the Rudyard Railway car park at the wrong end before we realised so ;-) Flat on the first half as you follow the railway track, then a few gradients as you travel back on the other half across the meadow and through the woods.

My wife and I enjoyed this walk. Not too much effort was required and it made for a lovely Sunday afternoon walk
