This is a super gorge walk for those who like a challenge and are not averse to a bit of scrambling. The walk starts just south of the lovely village of Tourves. The lower end is very pretty alongside the Caramy River, but soon the gorge becomes quite narrow and you are required to negotiate some entertaining diversions up the banks to avoid getting your feet wet. Eventually the gorge becomes so narrow that you have to exit. The climb out of the valley is very steep and though not much more than a scramble, does have some small vertical pitches. Once on the rim you then pick your way over a jumble of deeply eroded limestone blocks, with one fixed chain to negotiate. The way is well-waymarked and you can return via the GR99 if you have had enough boulder-hopping. This is a very beautiful and rewarding walk.
