A delightful but quite strenuous climb to the 'Green Lake' which nestles in a valley just over the border in Switzerland. In July and August (and part of September) you may well get refreshments at the Refuge de Chesery by the lake.

The walk starts at the plateau just above the pretty though slightly touristy hamlet of Les Linderets. This is the hub of the Les Linderets ski area, with several chairlifts and the telecabine to Ardent. But you quickly walk away into a lovely valley and the pylons of the ski lifts melt into the scenery.

A short, steep path takes you up to the Col de Chesery where views across the Swiss valley open out. A quick contour takes you to the Refuge de Chesery (you have now crossed the border but hopefully didn't need your passport).

A small loop allows you different views as you return to the col. Then it's a different way down along a high alpine path, before rejoining the Les Linderets ski area and a fairly swift descent to the walk start.
