This is an easy, attractive and quiet walk on the West Sussex / Hampshire border, just off the A3 south-west of Haslemere and tucked neatly just inside the boundary of the South Downs National Park.
Linchmere is often spelled Lynchmere and indeed one house on the walk uses one spelling on the gate and the other on the front door! The village has no village green, pub, shop or school - and no bus service these days - but it has an interesting little church and is a good starting point for this circular walk across Linchmere and Stanley Commons.
