Little Bedwyn - Bagshot - Shalbourne - Great Bedwyn - Little Bedwyn

A gloriously-varied walk in a right rural setting. By footpath, byway, bridleway and towpath the route explores a patchwork of Wiltshire woods, fields and downland plus waterside habitat and includes the attractive village of Shalbourne with its welcoming pub.

Please check your settings to ensure your speed (kms per hour) and rest times (% of time walking) are appropriate for you. If any walk takes longer or slower than expected this may suggest the settings are not quite right for you.

Confusion over time taken to complete this walk. My walking world app said 3 hours 18 minutes and our friends walking world app, who we were walking with, said 4 hours 49 minutes, a considerable discrepancy! Having completed this walk with a slight detour, trying to shorten the walk to reach Great Bedwyn in time for our booked lunch, the longer time of 4 hours 49 minutes is more accurate. A lovely walk but this incorrect information was very misleading. Susan Cook

Lovely walk, varied, countryside, canal, forest. Took 4 hours 10 minutes, excluding the loop to/from Shalbourne (so we had to walk A338 for half a mile). Main problem was restricted footpath access in Polesdon Estate, which added at least a mile to our walk as we got lost for a while. Three Tuns in Gt Bedwyn very tolerant of our late arrival for booked lunch, recommend it.

Be aware as you walk past Jugg's cottage, Milo the dog might be up for a walk! He was loose when we walked past and accompanied us for about 4 miles before we could get hold of his owners! Lovely dog (little terrier), apparently we weren't his first adoptees!
