This walk from Little Thetford passes through some outstanding Cambridgeshire countryside with tree-lined grassy avenues and open fields. Butterfiles abound among the huge variety of wildflowers on the route. Skylarks chatter and fly in and out of the fields. Watch out for chaffinches and warblers by the watercourses beside the paths.
The ragstone church of St George in Little Thetford dates from the 14th Century. It was rebuilt in the mid-19th Century. Nearly opposite this is a unique redbrick thatched roundhouse. Whilst it might be considered to be the base of a windmill, it is also claimed to be a Beacon House built to warn of an invasion during the wars with France.
