This is a lovely walk largely over pastureland dotted with sheep and cattle. It is chiefly remarkable for the idyllic views of countryside and the Knucklas Viaduct. Views from the 2.5km upland section stretch to the Shropshire Hills beyond Llanfair Waterdine. On a clear day this section makes a good place for a picnic. Paths in this area are little-used and you may well encounter no-one except on the short road sections.

There are sporadic waymarks, often with yellow tape so they give no directional information. Gates are often tied and many have broken hinges or more. You should take a compass or GPS to ensure you are always going in the right direction where waymarks are absent, but you should have little difficulty provided you use the 1:25000 map. Short sections of very quiet road are necessary because paths are blocked but the way described should present little difficulty. There may be one or two short muddy sections after prolonged rain but the going is mainly easy over grassy paths. There is one steady climb of 170m over 2km.
