This walk uses the canal as well as the river walk. DO NOT ATTEMPT IT IF THE RIVER LEVEL IS HIGH. The part of the river walk after Waymark 5 is under water when the river is high. Look out for dippers near the bridge, as well as grey wagtails. I saw a common sandpiper when I walked it in June 2005. There are otters in the river but I have never seen one here. This part of the River Usk is very pretty as it cascades down, before becoming narrower and deeper just as the walk ends.

We did this in March 2018 just afer the heavy snow had melted. The river was high. It is challenging at the start. You have to be quite bendy to get round the tree roots and boulders but it was definitely worth it! My favourite walk in Llangynidr

5/4/2013 - Phil and Sue Eptlett

Tried to do this walk on 3/5/13 and when reached WP 5 there was a notice on the stile 'Unsafe Path closed until further notice'. Looked a good scenic walk so gave it a rating on what we had completed.
