There is a steep climb at the start and a steep descent at the end of this walk, both on man-made steps, so that you can easily rest if you need to. Apart from this, the going is very easy, the walk passing through woodland, by the River Alyn, across pastures and along one delightful track. Good views abound and there are all the facilities of the Country Park. All in all, this is one of my favourites in an area for which I have a soft spot. Signposting is generally very good although, as is often the case in woodland, there are more paths than the map shows and you may need to concentrate on the route.

On this walk many referrals are made to Waymark numbers. In Loggerheads Park those numbers have been replaced with conventional waymark arrows. This may make the walk a fraction confusing for some who are not using an OS map or compass. Otherwise the walk is a lovely mixture of all sorts of terrain with a little bit of history thrown in!
