Like many others I had bypassed Longridge for the fell of the same name or for areas further up The Ribble valley. Looking at the map I saw a dense network of footpaths between the village and the river itself and realised that I had only ever walked the Ribble Way. So I planned a route and found it made a good day out, crossing mainly pastures, with some small areas of woodland and some handy bridleways with always the chance of a good view - a nice change from my usual haunts in this valley.

We know this area quite well but have never walked this bit of it - like Jim we have tended to walk out of it further into the Ribble Valley. What a beautiful walk. It was a lovely sunny day and the views were amazing. The mud had also dried up although sometimes it was quite hard walking on top of it where it had been churned up by the animals! The steep slope at waymark 14 did not give us a problem but I imagine could if the weather conditions were different. Certainly a walk worth repeating.
