This walk offers some selection of walking conditions. Most of the route is along easily followed, well-worn tracks and paths. Some paths along this route are little-used and not easy to spot. The path through Froggatt Wood can be boggy if off the line of the path; the correct line has stone paving in the more boggy areas.
The last part of the climb onto Froggatt Edge can be confusing, with several minor paths having been worn to the rock-faces by climbers. If off the line there is a need to do a little easy rock-climbing - the path itself is a rocky scramble for the last fifty metres. There is an easier alternative route available.
The pub used on this walk is the Bridge Inn in Carver. This pub now forms an island between the new road and the old narrow one crossing the River Derwent. They offer a reasonable menu at sensible prices and also offer some interesting local beers.
