Longshaw Estate - Curbar Gap - Baslow - Calver Bridge - Longshaw Estate
This walk starts from the National Trust car park situated at Haywood at the southern end of the Longshaw Estate, the most southerly of its three car parks. After a short stretch on the road it traverses the gritstone edges of Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow, with some superb scenery to the west over the Derwent Valley. At the southern end of Baslow Edge, a very short detour leads to Wellington's Monument, standing at a height of 1,000ft. The route then descends into the attractive village of Baslow, where it follows a quiet lane then a footpath on the opposite side of the River Derwent leading to Calver Bridge. From here we pass the large, converted Calver Mill and continue to follow the river to the village of Froggatt. From the village a path leads into Froggatt Wood from where there is a steepish ascent back to Haywood and the starting point.
