From the top of Longtown Village, descend to the Olchon Brook then walk over fields and through woodland to cross the Monnow and reach Michaelchurch on the Escley Brook. After lunch, return by a different route.

This is a delightful walk but in desperate need of revision. In particular around waypoints 4 and 5 the local authority have closed the stated path and done some major reroutings. Also at waypoint 8 it is now possible to use a new permissive path which cuts out the rocky path which when I walked the route was quite a stream (good for cleaning the boots though). Inevitably, time has changed some of the features - some stiles have become gates, metal gates have been replaced with wooden gates and so on. I guess all of these issues put an hour onto the length of the walk.
