Starting from the 'Discovery Centre' car park, this pleasant woodland walk meanders through woodland before dropping down to the river at the small hamlet of Watergate. From there it follows the river bank through the wooded Nature Reserve to a peaceful viewing point overlooking the river and mud flats with many wading birds giving an ideal opportunity for bird watching, painting or simply relaxing. The track is variably surfaced with a steep slope down to the river at Watergate making difficult for prams and the less able bodied, although there is a slightly longer alternative route from waymark 9.

I'm afraid we didn't enjoy this walk at all. This is in dense woodland, there is nothing to see at all through the woods and it's quite a tough walk through woodland. You do emerge onto the river and can walk along side when the tide is out but this was in our opinion a waste of time. Sorry, but it wasn't a great walk.
