From the Lordenshaw Car Park a gentle uphill stretch takes us onto the moorland beneath the Simonside hill range. Following the moorland paths, we journey onto Spylaw then to Coquet Cairn on the edge of the Harwood Forest. From here we cross further moorland to Cove Glen before crossing into the forested area of Simonside. Here footpaths and forest tracks lead us beneath the Simonside Crags and down through the woodland to join the county road back to the car park.
