This walk is a wander round some of the rural Cheshire countryside, which is characterised by green grass and cows. The grass is wet at almost all times of year, so good footwear is needed, but the whole countryside is beautiful and on this walk there are also spectacular views of the famous Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope.
This route passes through woods, which provide shelter in bad weather and are good places to see wildlife. After some rain and cooler weather there will often be fungus growths at the edge of the woodland. The area is also home to young game birds, which usually can be seen in the woods.
There are pools in the base of the sandpits, where various birds can be seen either nesting or flying. Some of the birds seem to be buzzards or other hunting birds. Binoculars are recommended to see the detail.
The more common squirrels and rabbits are also to be seen.
Please note a path has been diverted between Waymarks 20 and 22 (guide amended June 2021).
