This walk is along some of the Gritstone Trail, which in total runs from Disley near Stockport to Kidsgrove.
We start in the valley and head uphill all the way to the summit, which is just about where the distinctive radio tower is seen. The tower is a landmark which can be seen from well out into the Cheshire Plain.
On a clear day you can see to the west as far as the Welsh hills. To the north-east is Macclsfield Forest, Tegg's Nose and Shutlingsloe.
The ground can be muddy in wet weather and there is little protection from strong winds, but the views are magnificent.
The return half is more sheltered, at a lower level in the valley.
