This walk can be split into two sections with two high points as follows:-
Section 1). It starts in the village of Lumb which has easy access for both driving and public transport. It starts with a climb, broken up by a short down slope, to the top of Liver Hill. From the hill it is downhill into the edge of the village of Goodshaw.
Section 2). The second section starts with a drop down through fields to reach an area called Folly Clough. There is then a walk through the clough upstream before climbing out of the clough. There is then a section downhill before climbing to pass some holiday lodges. After passing the lodges there is a section through open moorland before the final descent back to the start.
The section from WM04 to WM07 does not follow the path shown on the map. This path is very difficult to see and follow on the ground. The paths followed are not on the map but are clear and easy to follow on the ground. There are only two stiles on this walk and dogs may have to be lifted over.
